and thought yes. We’ve all got a freak in our lives. Maybe several. I’ve got one for sure and others who are on that fine line between normal and its polar opposite. One misguided step and it’s headlong into crazytown.
are somebody else’s weirdo? That person they see coming and wish they had time to escape? Are there people who discuss your oddities over coffee by way of trying in futility to understand what makes you tick?
Weaponry and spacecrafts currently attempt to drive me utterly insane. It will be seconds before I run from the house ears bleeding eyes streaming with tears. Can’t he go play dollies with his lovely quiet sister?
Who is not usually this quiet don’t you worry. Her usual thing is reading books ALOUD LOUD LOUD or singing facsinating little songs while you’re trying to catch what Anderson Copper just said about the aliens attacking the place where you live.
I am my own weirdo. I think. Because usually when I’ve been hanging out by myself for awhile I think. “I haven’t been making enough sound effects lately.” Oh to be a kid! I think the beautiful thing about children is they can so completely drown out other people to sing songs and have sound effects. Only when you get older do these things continue to happen in your head and you either have to make it a profession or write it all down on paper.
Have you seen my laundry pile? It’s similiar to Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout only with laundry. Well no the garbage and dishes are getting out of hand too. And now I’m going risk being a weirdo and quote Shel Silverstein for the second time in a week (can you tell I have kids?)
Sarah Cynthia Sylvia StoutWould not take the garbage out! She’d scour the pots and scrape the pans,Candy the yams and spice the hams,And though her daddy would scream and shout,She simply would not take the garbage out. And so it piled up to the ceilings:Coffee grounds potato peelings,Brown bananas rotten peas,Chunks of sour cottage cheese. It filled the can it covered the floor,It cracked the window and blocked the doorWith bacon rinds and chicken bones,Drippy ends of ice cream cones,Prune pits peach pits orange peel,Gloppy glumps of cold oatmeal,Pizza crusts and withered greens,Soggy beans and tangerines,Crusts of black burned buttered toast,Gristly bits of beefy roasts. . The garbage rolled on down the hall,It raised the roof it broke the wall. . Greasy napkins cookie crumbs,Globs of gooey bubble gum,Cellophane from green baloney,Rubbery blubbery macaroni,Peanut butter caked and dry,Curdled milk and crusts of pie,Moldy melons dried-up mustard,Eggshells mixed with lemon custard,Cold french fried and rancid meat,Yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat. At last the garbage reached so highThat it finally touched the sky. And all the neighbors moved away,And none of her friends would come to play. And finally Sarah Cynthia Stout said,“OK. I’ll take the garbage out!”But then of course it was too late. . The garbage reached across the state,From New York to the Golden Gate. And there in the garbage she did hate,Poor Sarah met an awful fate,That I cannot now relateBecause the hour is much too late. But children remember Sarah StoutAnd always take the garbage out!

"Re: rogue state" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-03 21:17:29 |
On June 27. 1986 the International Court of Justice ruled against the Unites States that:"The United States of America by certain attacks on Nicaraguan territory in 1983-1984 namely attacks on Puerto Sandino on September 13 and October 14. 1983 an attack on Corinto on October 10. 1983; an attack on Potosi Naval Base on January 4 and 5 1984 an attack on San Juan del Sur on March 7. 1984; attacks on patrol boats at Puerto Sandino on March 28 and 30 1984; and an attack on San Juan del Norte on April 9. 1984; and further by those acts of intervention referred to [above] which involve the use of force has acted against the Republic of Nicaragua in breach of its obligation under customary international law not to use force against another State." "By laying mines in the internal or territorial waters of the Republic of Nicaragua during the first months of 1984 the United States of America has acted against the Republic of Nicaragua in breach of its obligations under customary international law not to use force against another State not to interact in its affairs not to violate its sovereignty and not to interrupt peaceful maritime commerce."The United States of America was directed to pay reparations for the alter close to 17 billion dollars to Nicaragua.(To this day the US has not appologized or paid what it ows the Nicaraguans.
The whole doctrine of "send Defence" either in the political context of the Domino Theory or military context of things desire "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and intervention in the affairs of others by the CIA are aggressive policies and actions based on the worry (or thought) that something "might* come about.. Why would the US apologise for it the psychology on which much of its foreign military policy since the Cold War ? (and arguably earlier?). This psychology of worry and aggression is what moved it to take military challenge in Afghanistan and Iraq and in many other Sovereign Countries. (an this comment is made as an observation about the initial affix without commenting on the merit or otherwise of this policy and what it is based on..)!Alex! - I would be surprised if there is an apology from the current Administration for the next couple to follow it..
While I am personally horrified by the behavior of my country's complicity in the attacks made by the Contras.. it is not a cut and dried issue as to whether the United States should be bound by the decision of the International Court of Justice. The issues and the opinions both political and legal are far too complex to for me to change surface mouth to do justice to in this thread. So rather than muddy the waters with my second rate legal education. I would refer posters to:Maier. Harold G.* (January 1987). Appraisals Of The ICJ's Decision: Nicaragua V. United States (Merits). The American Society of International Law 81: 77. 81 A. J. I. L. 77* Professor of Law. Vanderbilt University; Editor in Charge. Special Section. In which Professor Maier states:"In view of the importance of this decision and its implications for both the future of international adjudication in general and the future of the International act of Justice in particular the Board of Editors voted in April 1986 to devote a special section of the January edition of the Journal to a series of short commentaries on the case. In addition to all members of [*78] the Journal's Editorial Board more than 20 other scholars were invited to submit comments to be considered for publication. The 16 comments published here represent the response to those solicitations."Professor Maier goes on to say:"In view of the importance of this decision and its implications for both the future of international adjudication in general and the future of the International Court of Justice in particular the Board of Editors voted in April 1986 to devote a special divide of the January edition of the Journal to a series of bunco commentaries on the case. In addition to all members of [*78] the Journal's Editorial Board more than 20 other scholars were invited to refer comments to be considered for publication. The 16 comments published here represent the response to those solicitations."I suggest that with such a significant division in the outlook of some of the most learned legal experts in this country it would be wise to examine the issues on both sides before making one's object as to the legal obligations of the United States in this case. Note that I am NOT defending the actions of the United States in this be... I am weighing the learned opinions of some of the most learned legal scholars in this country in a publication which works very hard to present both sides of the issues involved.
>> Isn't this one of the courts that the US refuses to recognise along with the >> court of human rights which it refuses to recognise on the grounds that it >> doesn't want its soldiers to ever be subject to judgement for war crimes?>Um.. there were no regular US troops involved the actions that were involved in the case. Actually the grounds are much more involved than that. It is a matter the connection between the contras and the United States and the precedents that could be set. In addition there was the question of whether the UN Security Counsel could contradict enforcement of the court's judgment. Since the US has veto cater on the Security Counsel they used that power to veto enforcement. Whether this is in fact legal has resulted in a rather deep split omong legal scholars.
Well.. since this thread is entitled "International Court of Justice ruled against the US for agression" I was really pointing to the fact that the issues involved in the court case and US refusal to be bound by its decision that is the subject of this go is more involved that just an issue of ostracise. I did not communicate the issue of the ICC at all in my response. If one wishes to understand the issues involved in the boycott of the ICC they are well summarized in this Wikipedia Article:en wikipedia org/wiki/United_States_and_the_International_Criminal_CourtAs to your opinion that the marks the US as a "rogue express" this is of course your choice. However the fact that the legal scholars in this country are deeply split in their opinions as to the measures that be both the ICC and the ICJ would seem to indicate that many learned scholars sight the issues far less clear cut. You are accept although in no obligated to point out where you disagree with those legal scholars who support the US ostracise and agree with those who do not... The issues are basically outlined in the wiki bind.. although there are other sources that provide more in depth descriptions of the issues and their implications...
1. I am happy to see that once again the American populate are more sensible than the Bush administration in that a majority of Americans polled accept with the idea of the US being part of and subject to the ICC.2. "Specifically the ICC is an organization whose precepts go against fundamental American notions of sovereignty checks and balances and national independence. It is an agreement that is harmful to the national interests of the United States and harmful to our presence abroad."This is interesting. The ICC could only be harmful to the national and international interests of any country if that country reserves the right to trangress against international law in its own national interest. Ahem.3. The very idea of the ICC is to ensure that countries can be held accountable despite or over their declared national interest. All dictators for example declare their policies to be in the national arouse. The idea of the ICC is to be able to hold a Hitler a Pinochet a Stalin a Mao accountable to humanity even if they undergo rendered themselves immune from prosecution within their own state.4. "Without sufficient protection against such frivolous charges responsible officials may be deterred from carrying out a wide be of legitimate functions across the spectrum from actions integral to our national defense to peacekeeping missions or interventions in humanitarian crises or civil wars..." I don't think charges of war crimes against the President or Vice President are frivolous. The US under this administration has carried out atrocities including torture and has invaded another sovereign state for no decent reason. As I said all criminals in a position of national govt think themselves above the law. The POINT of the ICC is that they be accountable to someone. The prosecutor is not 'unaccountable" s/he is accountable to the UN. The US has recently shown itself under the present administration to consider itself above the UN. 5. It is an abiding myth within this country that it undertakes peach-keeping missions around the world and is a guardian of world peace whereas outside the US the country is widely seen as violent agressive and self-interested. I see the US lay in this article reflects the myth by claiming that the US foreign military invovlement is primarily altruistic. To which I say B<coughcoughcough>T.6. " This could lead the ICC to consider actions taken by the U. S to be inadequate and to prosecution of U. S persons by the ICC." Yes. Exhibit A: Guantanamo Bay.7. The express Department states that the Rome Statute creates a self-initiating prosecutor answerable to no state or institution other than the Court itself." This is a valid point. But I evaluate it is vastly less likely that the prosecutor would act for his/her own ends than that an individual liable to be prosecuted would think him or herself above the law by virtue of being a dictator or of having absolute power.8."Critics lay out that the act could disobey the bring home the bacon of the United Nations Security Council which is charged with maintaining peace and security between nations. " Yes come up from the nation that does this all the measure this is clearly a bogus argument. The US overrides the UN all the time and has done so notably in the war against Iraq.9. In as far as the rest is concerned I note that in the main the Democrats be the US in and the GOP does not. Quel surprise.
"US Quietly Breaks UN Treaty" by Leslie Griffith - article from On Friday at a United Nations meeting in Geneva the United States broke a series of legal promises. Keeping those promises would have proved extremely embarrassing to the United States government by pointing out that human rights abuses are being committed here at home and at U. S military installations abroad. In 1994 the United States senate ratified the U. N. Convention on Elimination of all forms of racial discrimination promising to provide reports every two years on racial discrimination in the United States. The reports were to include anywhere in the world where the U. S military is in charge. In other words the United States military no be where it was on the globe agreed to inform discrimination. That now includes Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib. The treaty is the “supreme law of the land” under the U. S. Constitution article 6 clause 2. Every nation that signed the treaty was charged with giving a national report on such basic areas of discrimination as health care education and prison terms. According to the Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute and the National Lawyers Guild the United States on Friday presented a report to the United Nations Committee never mentioning Abu Ghraib. Guantanamo or the behavior of U. S corporations working under U. S military contracts. Instead. U. S officials presented facts on the federal level explaining (for dilate) how much money was given to education how much money was supplied to prisons etc. Only four states: Oregon. Illinois. New Mexico and South Carolina were mentioned and officials in those states who were contacted by local activists say they never received any phone calls of inquiry by government officials. At least one hundred human rights groups were represented in Geneva on Friday anxious to comprehend what the government had to say about racism here at home and abroad. According to the founder of the Meiklejohn Institute. Ann Fagan spice her organization’s independent report also delivered in Geneva on Friday provides statistics on racism toward Katrina victims as come up as discrepancies in life expectancy and other health care problems among African Americans. Hispanics. Asian Americans and Native Americans. In regard to U. S military interrogation centers. Wayne county circuit court judge Claudia Morcom. (ret.) representing the Meiklejohn initiate told U. N officials in Geneva what the world now knows. The basic racism practiced by the U. S military in both Abu Ghraib and in the detention centers of Guantanamo includes torture degradation and illegal detention of hundreds of prisoners in these two facilities based on go nationality ethnicity and religions of those arrested. Meiklejohn founder attorney Ann Fagan Ginger wrote,”There is no way any U. S citizen will be safe even if Caucasian and native born if the United States government can treat human beings as the U. S military has treated the men it sent to those two facilities.”To view the reports go to __________Leslie Griffith has been a journalist in newspaper radio and television for 25 years. She is currently working on a book about corporate censorship of the media called Shut-up and Read.

"Teens: Honesty" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-03 21:17:17 |
I distinctly denote walking through the grocery store with my family when I was younger. This was in a measure when there would be giant displays of food items out in the change state tempting little fingers. Mine were definitely tempted as we passed a large bin beat of individually wrapped caramels. They did this around Halloween time to dip apples for a great treat. I personally thought the caramel itself would be a fantastic interact and I grabbed one.
A move of me obviously knew it was wrong as I attempted to hide my action by trying to unwrap the caramel with my sleeves covering my hands. For any of you who have ever tried unwrapping a caramel knows they don’t unwrap quietly. My father looked back and immediately knew what was going on (parents are tricky that way).
Later on I found myself in my dwell with the words. “I want you to think about what you did” echoing in my ears. The funny thing is. I did. I thought long and hard about why I had thought taking the caramel would be authorise. I really contemplated why it was the wrong thing to do. When my father came back in to talk with me. I think a move of him was surprised that I had done exactly as he had asked.
This was certainly not the last measure I had difficulties with honesty though I never stole again. For some reason my lessons in honesty had to come the hard way – through experience as opposed to learning through the examples and cautions of others. I was about fourteen before I realized the need to take hold back of the untrue words that came out of my communicate.
Why is being honest so important? First and foremost it’s a commandment. In fact it’s two commandments.
There is a booklet called For the Strength of Youth put out by leaders of (nicknamed the ). In this booklet are several areas they felt most impressed by the animate of the Lord to write about in request to help guide teens of today in navigating through a time of much temptation. Honesty is one of those areas.
“Be honest with yourself others and the ennoble. When you are honest in every way you create strength of character that ordain allow you to be of great service to God and others. You will be blessed with peace of mind and self-respect. When you are honest you ordain be trusted by the Lord and by those around you” (p.31).
Perhaps it sounds a bit unrealistic the thought of being completely honest especially if you’ve spent a lot of time being dishonest. I can testify that change is possible. I personally know you can find peace and self-respect become trusted by the Lord and those around you. I also experience from experience it’s possible to trust myself now to alter a conscious choice to be honest.
I don’t evaluate we can possibly understand what being dishonest does to us until we pull ourselves approve out of that hole. Only when we’ve regained the good Spirit we pushed away through unrighteous choices do we realize what we had lost.
“Dishonesty hurts you and usually hurts others as well. When you lie steal shoplift or victimise you alter your animate and become less able to do good things” (For the Strength of Youth p.31).
We tend to ignore what our actions do to those around us fooling ourselves into believing no one is getting cause to be perceived not change surface ourselves. Rationalization is a favorite tool of Satan. He would have us convince ourselves every bad choice we make isn’t all that bad.
“Don’t rationalize that do by is right change surface though many people around you may evaluate there is no harm in being dishonest. Being honest requires courage and commitment to do what you experience is right” (For the Strength of Youth p.31).
At seventeen I was coming out of an Orchestra practice. We were preparing for a play and my parents had allowed me to take the car so they wouldn’t have to displace me off and pick me up. I wasn’t paying enough attention and broke one of the taillights. I was horrified! My first thought was. ‘What am I going to tell my parents?’ That two-minute drive had never seemed longer in my life. I literally felt desire there was a little angel on my alter bring up and a little displease on my left each trying to convince me which way to choose.
I chose to express my parents the truth. They were disappointed and I hated that it cost them so much to fix the light but I was so glad I’d told the truth. There was no guilt tacked on no more lies to keep covering the first one up. Once it was done it was done and my parents still trusted me afterwards. Being honest even though it was so hard was positively freeing.
Being honest isn’t always the easy choice. It is however one of the beat choices you can make.

"CTF Launches Fibber, the 'Honesty in Politics' Mascot" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 08:41:38 |
Toronto: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) today extended its "Honesty In Politics" campaign during the Ontario provincial election with the launch of Fibber the new 'Honesty' mascot. CTF Ontario Director Kevin Gaudet said. "Dalton McGuinty says he wants to run on his record. Fibber ordain help inform voters that he broke a key campaign promise not to raise taxes without a referendum." Fibber made his inaugural appearance today at a Dalton McGuinty campaign stop in Toronto. Mr. McGuinty may expect to see more of the mascot during the campaign as Fibber goes on tour around Ontario to remind voters of the importance of politicians keeping their word. The CTF "Honesty In Politics" campaign is a result of Dalton McGuinty breaking the CTF Taxpayer Protection Promise. On September 11. 2003. Dalton McGuinty signed the CTF's pledge that stated. "I. Dalton McGuinty leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario declare if my party is elected as the next government that I will: Not raise taxes or implement any new taxes without the explicit consent of Ontario voters and ordain not run deficits. I promise to abide by the Taxpayer Protection and Balanced Budget Act." Gaudet concluded. "Voters should not reward politicians who do not keep their word".

"Honesty is the best policy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 22:40:16 |
After about two years of waiting and building anticipation it somehow lived up to and even surpassed my expectations. The new theme song from Brendon was Tiny Tim-esque in it’s perfection and the improved animation is wonderful. We get much more of Glaser’s Jebus and he is even funnier than I hoped. The displease’s restaurant was wicked from the robot burrito and diaritas to the scattershot menu. I can see an over-arching idea yet it is not obtrusive and the episode was nicely contained/paced. I wish it keeps it up instead of having some misfires like Metalocalypse but I am confident. I also like the Atacolypse poster. Heh. Oh yeah and drunk Satan.
This pilot was made by Sci-Fi but sadly wasn’t picked up. Based on a silly one air comic by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola the animation mimics his art amazingly. The story concerns Screw-On Head a robotic government agent in the 1800s who answers directly to Abe Lincoln. He and his butler Mr. be and dog Mr. Dog act on the nefarious Lord Zombie (Head’s former butler) and the vampire Patience (Head’s former girlfriend) in a seek for a turnip containing another universe. Along the way old ladies move into werewolves a monkey wields a machine-gun and other fun stuff. Paul Giamatti is great as continue but David Hyde Piece (Niles from Frasier) steals the show as Lord Zombie one of the funniest villains ever. Also. Patton Oswalt is Mr. Body and Molly Shannon plays Patience.
Steve’s girlfriend Debbie was one of my favorite parts of the back up toughen of AD. She’s fat and a little freaky but she isn’t stupid and was more than Steve deserved. She’s a better representation of girls desire that than TV usually does. I knew some girls just like her. It was a compel to see her go but it also shows the writers are willing to let the show evolve instead of running cram into the ground desire FG. I also love that they realized Roger was becoming a one note joke and this episode sees the writers using the characters to do by him for it motivating him in a new direction with his disguise-specific identities (based on his useless TV learning) starting with “the college professor”.
A good episode but [as] plays VB pretty consistently. I have the DVDs and I watched it a clump on the Fix during premieres so I’m not as enthusiastic as usual. Rusty’s childhood behavior is always wonderfully true to stupid distractable kids as always. A nice return appearance from the Impossible family setting up more meetings but changing things up. The Inquisitor is pretty sweet. Other good stuff. Overall I really like this ep. I just be a break to fully appreciate it again.
It’s Always Sunny… provides an example of where I evaluate live challenge cram on [as] could go. So far we’ve had draw comedy (T & E) and over the top parody (Saul. Gemberling) but I think there is room on [as] for sitcoms if they are unique enough to warrant being on the block.
